Guidelines For Listings
What?
CuizineQuest.com is a free service offering viewers the opportunity to locate
exciting dining places in their local neighborhoods and to return
the favor by reviewing and rating their own favorite places to eat.
Why?
When chefs leave their own kitchens to go out to eat they usually don’t
go for fancy watering holes -- they head for small, local, and often out-of-the-way
establishments where some of the most vibrant and exciting cooking in America
is happening. Unfortunately, these great places are often hard to find. Many
restaurants with wonderful food don’t advertise much, while other excellent
dining places are known mainly to specific ethnic populations. Let’s
follow in the chefs’ footsteps and discover these culinary treasures
for ourselves together on CuizineQuest!
$$ How Much?
Lunch or dinner for two people for $26
or under. (Average $13. per person.) This would not include drinks, desserts,
tip, or taxes. Allowing for two people would permit shared appetizers or entrees,
giving a well-balanced meal while still staying under $26. per couple. At
this price range, dining out becomes competitive with cooking at home. When
you factor in the time and expense of shopping for food supplies, the time
it takes to cook and do dishes, and even the gas or electricity used in preparation
and clean-up, inexpensive restaurant meals may be very competitive with home-cooked
food. The only trick is finding the restaurants serving great prepared-to-order
food for that kind of money.
Which Ones?
Every style of cooking is fine. Any
national, regional, or ethnic cuisine can be included. The wider the variety,
the better for our directory. We’ve listed dozens of categories -- please
send us an email if we haven’t listed the category you
need.
No chain restaurants.
If you want one, these are all-too-easy to find. However some of our good
local places do have branches, so let’s limit our listings to businesses with
ten (10) or fewer outlets in the United States.
No pizza-only restaurants.
Pizza on the menu is fine, but let’s say that at least 50% of the menu
has to contain food items other than pizza.
Carryouts and Delis are OK. Food
quality and price are our concerns -- but don’t forget, good service
still counts in a carryout.
